Here is the plot:

In "2024", we trail the intriguing journey of Winnie Smith, postulated to be the son of Winston Smith, protagonist of George Orwell's dystopian narrative "1984". As a prosperous department head at Blue Stone, the world's largest private asset manager, Winnie's life intertwines with Julia, a high-achieving young lawyer. A deep connection kindles between the two.

Winnie's life spirals into a vortex of shocking revelations when he uncovers the truth about his lineage following his adoptive father's death. He learns that his 'father' was actually a senior officer at the American embassy in Berlin and his biological father, none other than Winston Smith.

Amidst these personal revelations, Winnie and Julia become embroiled in a scandal. Blue Stone stands accused of manipulating ESG investments, a claim exposed by whistleblower Crissy Summers. Julia stumbles upon a damning recorded phone call proving Tom O’Brien, a senior manager at Blue Stone, guilty. She divulges the incriminating evidence to Jeff, an investigative journalist at the Washington Post. As a result, their phone numbers end up on a surveillance target list powered by the Pegasus software, prompting them to flee across Europe to a hideout in Madeira after their apartments are invaded.

Their newfound refuge turns precarious with the EU's complete cash abolition and compulsory implementation of the eEuro, further constraining their living conditions. Once again forced to escape, they return to the USA, thanks to Shadow, Winnie's hacker ally who, to their betrayal, is later revealed to be working for their pursuers. Winnie is taken captive and transported to a high-tech prison where he endures brutal interrogations led by Tom O’Brien. O’Brien’s father was the one who broke Winnies father Winston Smith 1984.  

Post-release, Winnie initially operates as a pawn for Blue Stone. However, a clandestine reunion leads to a radical restriction of Winnie's existence through the controlling forces of digital currency.
